Why I Did What I Did

A month ago, I quit working with Teezonic, the company I co-founded 3 years ago. It came as a surprise to many. Quitting your own company at a time, when the business is about to boom.

Digital Marketing is not my cup of tea.

Teezonic Creatives started off as a Web-Development Agency. Over the time we renamed and included services that we thought were perfect for growth. I was all up for it when I realised that particular vertical is going to explode in the coming future. And boy! It did. So did the complications associated with it. Being a creative field, it was definitely not my thing. There were no ground rules, and for a person who is too analytical like me, It’s ridiculously difficult to work with and implement something like this.

Respect.

You might have heard this before. It has appeared in Harry Potter, Charlie Chaplin, and many others.

If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.

Things in Teezonic changed over the years. People change. And when the people behind an idea change, the idea changes too. If you deliver late, so will your company. If you do everything at the last moment, so will your company. If you do not respect, Neither will your company. For me, after all, I value certain things in life more than money. Things like respect and honour.

Self-Righteousness, Narcissism,  Hypocrisy.

A few months ago, I read this somewhere,

Employees don’t leave Companies, they leave Managers

First, when we started to lose our team, one by one, over the time, without any reason or cuz of stupid reasons, I thought it was their problem. But, only a fool will believe that after when you realize that the only variable here is the people who handle them. I realized this when our photographer took a half day leave and never returned. Soon, I learned that my equal turned into a King Kong, Superman, and Taskmaster, all together, as if one wasn’t enough. I guess, afterall you cannot blame them for leaving when their boss turns out to be Self-Righteous, Narcissist, and Hypocritic.

Traveling.

Years ago, when I thought my life was quite fucked up, I counted on traveling. A lot. Later on, It started to define me. For the past one year, I have never backpacked, except maybe a trek to Kodaikanal from Munnar. When you lose the things you consider as your life’s definition, you lose your identity. And I’m not ready for that.

Ultimately, the reasons are simple. Sometimes, it’s simpler to ditch your idea and move on with life. May the force be with us all.
